{"id":1418,"date":"2020-02-28T15:45:19","date_gmt":"2020-02-28T20:45:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/connietuttle.com\/blog\/?p=1418"},"modified":"2020-02-28T15:45:19","modified_gmt":"2020-02-28T20:45:19","slug":"a-lenten-invitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/connietuttle.com\/blog\/a-lenten-invitation\/","title":{"rendered":"A Lenten Invitation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/connietuttle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/youre-invited.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1420\" src=\"http:\/\/connietuttle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/youre-invited.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a>Dear Friends,<br \/>\nOkay, it&#8217;s after Ash Wednesday when these plans should have been made.<br \/>\nBut it&#8217;s not too late to add a practice and it&#8217;s never too late to begin.<br \/>\nMany of us who give something up for Lent don&#8217;t experience spiritual grounding<br \/>\nor awakening<br \/>\nor inspiration.<br \/>\nI, myself, have given myself a congratulatory pat on the back for giving up coffee or caffeine or dessert&#8230; and even back in the day, cigarettes.<br \/>\nI once belonged to a community that fasted &#8216;religiously&#8217; during Lent and had a blow-out party on Easter whose excesses had me questioning the practice, if not my sanity.<\/p>\n<p>In the interim I&#8217;ve learned that my Lenten journey is best practiced as an act of mindfulness. This is an invitation to a certain kind of mindfulness.<br \/>\nPlease join me in giving up plastic for Lent. At least as much. as you can as often as you can.<br \/>\n&#8211; \u00a0keep your grocery bags in the. care<br \/>\n&#8211; buy produce without putting it in a plastic bag<br \/>\n&#8211; refrain from drinking from plastic bottles: try reusable containers or cans<br \/>\n&#8211; most of all don&#8217;t forget to recycle what plastic (and cans) you are unable to refrain from using.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/connietuttle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/dead-whale-plastice.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1419\" src=\"http:\/\/connietuttle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/dead-whale-plastice-300x156.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"156\" srcset=\"http:\/\/connietuttle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/dead-whale-plastice-300x156.jpg 300w, http:\/\/connietuttle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/dead-whale-plastice-600x313.jpg 600w, http:\/\/connietuttle.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/dead-whale-plastice.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Let every act, even those that feel like deprivation, be an occasion for \u00a0mindfulness of how we are all walking together on this planet. How will you embody Sacred \u00a0will in this time? What is it worth to you to lose convenience and gain connection?<\/p>\n<p>This is my invitation to you.
