Who are these so- called ‘neighbors’
\nI keep seeing?
\nFellow citizens
\nsporting sw\u00e1sticas
\nwaving \u00a0confederate flags
\nand spewing hate?
\nThey didn’t \u00a0just move in
\nthey’ve always been here,
\nbut now they’ve been given the courage
\nto display their hideous sympathies by
\ntheir great leader.
\nIn our names.<\/p>\n

These folks\u00a0stoke my every fear
\nby their willingness to dehumanize others
\nand their shameless hate.
\nBut more important, \u00a0as all this has unfolded
\nlike a slow motion train
\nplowing toward a non-existent trestle,
\nis who I have\u00a0become.<\/p>\n

The truth is
\nI have become a hater.
\nI have become a hater of Trump and his minions.
\nThere I said it.
\nI hate how you hate
\nI hate your self-righteousness
\nI hate your intractability
\nI hate what you stand for
\nI hate that you have no shame in your hating.
\nI hate how your hating makes me afraid.<\/p>\n

I don’t like hating
\nI don’t want to be twisted by
\nmy own hatred.
\nAnd I don’t like being afraid.<\/p>\n

Scripture tells me
\nthat love casts out fear.
\nI don’t want to love right now.
\nBut I will try to remember that I am loved.
\nBecause that\u00a0Love bestows
\ncourage we need to face these times..<\/p>\n

So as we move forward
\nremember how deeply loved you are
\nall the way out to your edges
\nall the way down to the breath you draw.
\nIt will not protect you
\nbut it will give you what you need
\nto do what must be done.
\nand say what must be said.
\nDo not be afraid.
\nFor the love of Godde
\ngives us the audacity
