Before that, if I recall correctly, it was \u2018privates\u2019 \u2013 or if you were progressive like my mom was \u2013 one referred to what was in one\u2019s panties as \u2018genitals\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>That was the good stuff. On the streets it was twat and cunt and pussy and gash\u2026 I could go on and on.<\/p>\n<p>Men seem to have a love\/hate relationship with female genitalia, even gay men. I was on the board of a gay\/lesbian organization (that I soon left) where the men referred to women as \u2018fish\u2019. To demean another man call him a \u2018pussy\u2019. To demean a woman spew \u2018cunt\u2019 at her. Or a gazillion other slang names. I refer you to this slang dictionary website: <a href=\"http:\/\/onlineslangdictionary.com\/thesaurus\/words+meaning+vulva+(%27vagina%27),+female+genitalia.html\">http:\/\/onlineslangdictionary.com\/thesaurus\/words+meaning+vulva+(%27vagina%27),+female+genitalia.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now \u2013 thank you, Eve Ensler, we proudly use the words \u2018vagina\u2019 and \u2018vulva\u2019. Even in public. Even on prime time television.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the country seems to be afraid of what is in each others\u2019 panties, jock shorts, boxers or thongs. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0Here\u2019s the deal.
